What is a Monogram Signet Ring?
A custom signet ring engraved with a monogram is both beautiful and stylish. At Benjamin Black, designing monograms for our clients' signet rings is a big part of what we do.
But, what is a monogram - and why should you consider a monogram as an option for your signet ring?
Traditionally a monogram is created by carefully overlapping two or more syllables, usually a person's initials, to create a symbol.
Monograms first appeared on coins around 350BC. The earliest known examples are names of Greek cities, which were often the first two letters of the city's name.
Monograms have also been used as signatures by artists and craftspeople to hallmark their work.Β
At Benjamin Black, our talented designers create unique monograms using the initials of your name, or even those of you and your partner, your children and loved ones.
The design process is all included in our standard engraving fees - so you receive the benefit of a personal design service at no extra cost.Β
